We have had a busy month of February. Last week we earned the Huskie door mat in front of our door for the next two weeks because we were so quiet in the hallway. Other highlights include: Mr. Johnson coming to read some great stories to us, having a bakery set-up in our dramatic play area, having a couple music classes with Mr. Resley, learning to play duck, duck, gray duck, and filling our class Huskie jar. We voted and the group decided to watch a movie on Tuesday as the reward.
We have been working really hard on hearing and knowing beginning sounds and writing letters that circle back and circle forward. Next, we will be working on letters with slanted lines and curves. We have been talking about community helpers and the jobs that people do and journaled about what we want to do when we grow up. It sounds like we will have a lot of fire fighters and police officers! We will start off March by learning about transportation and ways to travel, as well as setting up a post office in our classroom. In Second Step we will continue to work on recognizing and acknowledging the feelings of others. In math we have worked with pattern blocks, counting backwards from ten, learned to play top-it and domino train, and worked on counting objects to 20. We will continue to work on those tricky teen numbers, we will learn a few more games, and will work with balance scales and measuring. We will also be exploring with ramps at the end of the month.
Dates to remember:
Friday, March 6 - Early dismissal at 12:10.
Wednesday, March 18 - Spring pictures - pictures are taken first and then proofs and order forms go home
Friday, March 20 - No school - professional development day
